HOW_TO install a License plate light switch

A License plate light switch is fairly self-explainatory. It turns off the lights that illuminate your license plate. This is useful for one purpose: cops. When you turn off the License plate lights, the license is not visible. Brake lights do not show the license because its too deep and they shine too far out, and headlights (from the cop behind you) reflect off the plate, but don't make it readable (most of the time). Spotlights are out of the question. They're simply too bright. If the cops turned them on behind you while you're moving, you could have a wreck because you can't see and then you get to sue. If your racing and you get cops flashing lights and squealing tires behind you and you're fortunate enough to get away, they still may have your license plate number and most all cop cars come equipped with cameras now, so you're still caught. But now you're caught for evading arrest as well.
This can be used to flip on and off brake lights as well. The theory behind this is that when a cops behind you or something and you're going too fast, they won't notice if you flip off your brake lights then brake and therfore you run a far less risk of being pulled over. Use that one at your own risk. If they notice you braking without lights, they'll pull over for that and that's a big ticket. If you brake without lights, the person behind you can't always tell you're braking and you can cause a wreck. Make sure you turn them back on if you feel compelled to do this. I, personally don't recommend doing this with the brake lights. Just slam the brakes if you're going too fast and either get away with it or get a ticket for the speed they clocked you at, which if you braked hard will be significantly lower than if you'd maintained your speed.

The first thing to do is run 2 wires to the front seat for your switch. These wires have to be long; their running all the way from the driver to the trunk lid. The best way to invisibly run the wires is to tuck them under the bottom of the front door drivers side panel and then under the panel in the back drivers side. Drop the seats in the back and run it under those, behind the carpet in the trunk to the wire cover (grommet, whatever) leading up into the trunk lid. Once you have the wire all the way to the lid, take out the 2 lights. There's 2 screws for each light. Then pop the lights out and either cut or splice the positive wire for the first light and run the positive wire that's now leading to your front seat to the spliced section of that. Now you've got the switch for the first light. Next you need a piece of wire to go from the positive wire on the first light to the positive on the second. Splice into the second positive wire and run it to the splice in the first. When you flip the switch, they'll go on and off. This is only mildly useful and can be somewhat ineffective if they hit the light right on your plate. But from personal experience, it does work sometimes.
